Artisanal Art

I should probably stop making jokes with the titles of these, right? Maybe next time. In this weeks update I’ll be talking about the progress the team has made with art and the overall style we’re aiming for with the game.

            In trying to keep Wrestling Forever somewhat similar to the N64 wrestling games serving as inspiration, we’ve decided to stick with a somewhat blockier design for the character models. As pictured below with the first model of the wrestlers thigh.

The current plan with these untextured models is to have a selection of textures that can be applied, serving as a character creation tool, allowing players to design their own wrestler for that added attachment to a strong sweaty dude that we all crave when it comes to fighting games. This approach to custom characters also means that we don’t need to create entire new models for different fighters, or workers as they are called in the biz, rather we can alter individual parts of them as we go to keep things interesting.

The fighting ring itself will also be customisable, allowing players to choose colours so they can create their own sense of style, or just to get as bonkers as possible bascule who doesn’t love getting a headache from clashing colours?

            Moving on from 3D art, the game will also feature its fair share of 2D art, in an attempt to emulate the feel of the general feel of those classic wrestling games that we grew up with. To accomplish this, the art for the arena(s) as a whole has been broken down into a number of elements;

                        Guard Rails

                        Crowds

                        Bleachers and Stands

                        Entrance Areas

                        Floors

            The current plan for the above is that the Guard Rails, Entrances and Floors is that the release version of the game will have a number of in built images, but in keeping with one of our core pillars of the game, there would also be a way for players to add in their own images (with help from templates of course). This means that if you have a particular hankering for a wrestling game about specifically 80’s wrestling, you can do it. 90s wrestling? You got it. I could go on, there’s so many years, but you get the point, adding in your own images and colours will let you create the game you want to play.

            And with that we come to the end yet another blog post, sad I know, but I’ll be back again next week with more being the scenes information about how this game will eventually be created, see you then!
